Strong Black Women

In April 2019, the Rita Marley Foundation(JA) launched its inaugural Song Writing Competition, for high schoolers.

The theme, Strong Black Women & Their Role in History. Results were announced on International Reggae Day, July 1.

Ardenne High School’s Afaya Pollack emerged overall winner-awarded $50,000 cash.

The Foundation enlisted master producer/musician Asley ‘Grub’ Cooper, to create a musical masterpiece, with the winning piece. On Friday November 15, Afaya Pollack and York Castle High School’s Shawvick Barrett(3rd place finalist) were in studio, with Grub, recording the song.
